before you paint your body

Soft facial expressions make a great canvas to paint on...

When you dance, you should think of your entire body as a display of art.

You are projecting colors, lines, angles, shapes, shading, emotion..etc.

Sometimes, I feel like we are devoting a lot of attention on the dance floor to our illustration, and not so much attention to our canvas -facial expressions and body posture.

Looking Great in Seconds

Take care of your canvas. It will determine how you look and feel when you dance.

You can literally transform your feeling and appearance by doing two simple things:

  1. Without being rigid, stand straight.
  2. Keep your eyes open and alert -think child at Disney World- and your facial expressions soft.

It’s incredible the transformation that happens when you apply these two very simple tips. Dancers appear a little more sexy, much more confident, and a whole lot more ‘in the groove’. You would be surprised at how few people apply these principles.

Posture and Face Come First

If your eyes are down and your back is hunched, you are cheating yourself as a dancer.

So before you start thinking about what turn patterns you are going to do, take care of your posture and your facial expressions first and then allow your masterpiece to paint itself.
