the illusion of stillness

You know, it’s hard to see how fast you are flying when you are the one in the car.

But i’m on the outside, and it amazes me how fast you all are progressing these days.

Dancers with a little over two months of experience are executing chains.

Dancers with barely four months under their belt with rock-solid clave awareness, leading and following and executing Sueltas.

Everyone is leading and following. Paso is beginning to totally blur the line between lead and follow.

The new word is dancer. Forget lead and forget follow. There.

Dancers in Intermediate II classes that are generating choreography in 5 minutes that I would never have dreamed of until years into my training. These same few elite also understand how to create drills that create dancers.

It’s insane.

I would literally be embarrassed to show you where I was in a month to month comparison.

I am not ashamed to say it. Quite proud in fact. We made it clear that we wanted to develop dancers exponentially faster than we developed ourselves.

And we did. So when you think you are struggling think again.

You are excelling far beyond your imagination.
