Bring Your Compass to Class

If you don’t know where you are going, how are you going to get there?

And if don’t know how and what you want to improve, how will you ever improve it?

Sounds difficult.

It’s like trying to find your way to a specific supermarket without knowing which supermarket.

You will wonder aimlessly without much results.

The only way to reap maximum results from your training is to have a compass for improvement, something to guide you when the going gets tough.

How quickly can you fill in the blanks?

1. As a dancer I would like to become better at_________________.

2. So when I come to class, I am working to develop [your answer from 1] by doing the following three things:

1.

2.

3.

Finished? Great. That’s your compass for class. That’s your direction for training.

How long did it take you to realize what your goals as a dancer were?

If you cannot fill in the blanks, take the time to think about it. You need a destination, a milestone, SOMETHING to arrive at to mark your progress and carry you through.

If you come simply to have fun, keep this in mind and be fun. Contagiously fun.

If you come to improve your follow, actively improve it. Just being present is not gonna cut it at Paso.

Direction is important. Keep your compass handy and make sure that somewhere in the back of your mind you constantly going somewhere or else you will go nowhere.
